From 1839 till 1851 Varvara Petrovna Lutovinova, mother of Ivan Turgenev, lived in the house that became Turgenev’s museum also known as the "Mumu House". Ivan Sergeevich used to stay there during his visits to Moscow. It should be noted that the house was almost broken in the 1970s and rebuilt later. Only the Northern facade and the Eastern wall preserved their historical view. Personal belongings of Turgenev and his family, first editions of his books, paintings and portraits are exhibited in the Museum. The mansion is described in the "Mumu" story.
The museum is closed for restoration
